Gia Abucejo is an interdisciplinary artist working primarily across film & video, installation, and text. her practice harnesses digital processes and enchanted imaginaries to inform, empower, and resist. she has created works that have exhibited nationally & internationally in galleries, festivals, and performance spaces. her first video work, Shield Ambiance, was awarded "Best Imaginative Transformation: Exceptional Storytelling in Experimental Video" at the 2023 Feminist Border Arts Film Festival.
a senior at the University of Pittsburgh, Gia recently developed an art scholarship project linking pearls to anti colonial collection practices and art historic dialogue under the Chancellor's Undergraduate Research Fellowship, supported by the Frederick Honors College.
she has worked as an artist-in-residence with the university's physics & astronomy department, as well as the projection designer for an original dance-theater project, Lost on a Loom.
she is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
